Cookie Policy
Version 1.2 — 18 September 2026
3.1 What are cookies?
A “cookie” is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to collect information about how a site is used. Similar technologies — such as pixels, local storage, and tags — behave the same way for the purposes of this Policy. In this Policy, “cookies” means all such technologies.
3.2 The rules that apply
We use cookies in accordance with:
Article 100 of the Croatian Act on Electronic Communications (Zakon o elektroničkim komunikacijama, NN 76/2022), which requires prior consent for the storage of information on your device unless the cookie is strictly necessary; and
the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where cookies process personal data.
3.3 We use very few cookies — and no consent banner
Our website uses only a small number of strictly necessary cookies, which are exempt from the consent requirement under Article 100(2) of the Croatian Act on Electronic Communications. We do not use analytics cookies, marketing cookies, or any tracking cookies. For this reason, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Our website analytics is provided by Independent Analytics, a self-hosted WordPress plugin running on our own mensapta.org installation. It is cookieless and privacy-friendly: it does not set cookies, does not store raw IP addresses, does not generate persistent identifiers, and does not track visitors across sites. Data never leaves our own server. For that reason it does not require your consent under either Article 100 of the Croatian Act on Electronic Communications or the GDPR.
You can always block or delete cookies directly through your browser. Instructions are available in the help section of each browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the website to stop working (for example, your language choice will not be remembered).
3.4 The cookies we do use
Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
Cookies without which the website cannot function properly — for example, to remember your language choice (EN / HR) and to protect our forms against automated abuse.
mai_lang — remembers your language choice — first-party — 12 months.
csrf_token — protects forms against cross-site request forgery — first-party — session.
[Any hosting/CDN security cookie, e.g. Cloudflare __cf_bm] — bot management — third-party — [duration, typically 30 minutes].
Analytics cookies
None. We use Independent Analytics, which is cookieless.
Functional cookies
None at this time. If in future we embed third-party content that requires cookies (for example, YouTube videos or interactive maps), we will introduce a consent mechanism and update this Policy before doing so.
Marketing cookies
None. We do not run advertising campaigns and we do not intend to.
3.5 If this changes
If we later add any cookie or similar technology that is not strictly necessary — for example, an embedded video, an interactive map, or a chat widget — we will introduce a proper consent banner with granular controls, update this Policy, and clearly announce the change. Until then, no banner appears because none is required.
3.6 Your rights
The rights described in Section 1.10 of the Privacy Policy above apply equally to cookie-related processing.
3.7 Changes
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, change or remove cookies. The version date at the top of this document reflects the last update.
